O2 Career: meet Achraf, Backend developer
1. What made you decide to join O2 Commerce?
While living in Tunisia, I was looking for an international opportunity to discover other cultures and professional environments. It was through a Linkedin post that I discovered O2 Commerce. So I submitted my application for the developer position. From the first interview, the presentation of the values of the company and the teams, I was won over! I remember thinking to myself “I found what I have been looking for!”
2. What has your experience been like at O2?
When I arrived, I joined a team that had maintenance projects for different customers. Our objectives were to ensure the optimization, updating and design of several e-commerce sites. For some projects, we even made full updates to the latest version of Magento.
From the start, I was able to discover new tools and ways of working very different from those I used in Tunisia. This allowed me to gradually find my bearings. It’s a very dynamic agency at both the project and team level where I have gained great experiences by working on diverse projects which has allowed me to learn a lot.
Today, I work exclusively on Magento projects for a company specializing in the funeral industry. This project is quite unique and presents new challenges that constantly push us out of our comfort zone so I’m constantly learning more and more, even after two years!
3. What do you like the most about working at O2?
First of all, the work environment is wonderful, the colleagues are generous and helpful. The other big advantage is the possibility of being able to work remotely from anywhere in the world! This flexibility of being present in the office and at the same time the possibility of being able to work remotely when you want is very appreciated. On the other hand, the flexible schedule allows me to find a balance between the world of work and my own little world, my private life!
4. What is your best memory to date?
At O2 Commerce, there are many events that are organized to connect with our colleagues and take a break outside of work. What I mainly like about these events is being able to talk to my colleagues and meet people from different cultures. The agency has employees of various nationalities, each with their own history and goodwill, which always makes these events enjoyable.
I would say that these events and the people there make up my fondest memories at O2.
5. How would you describe your colleagues and managers?
My work team and my other colleagues are a bit like gladiators. We basically do the same things, except instead of fighting and putting on a show in the arena, we fight with code to make projects for our clients! If I had to describe my managers, I would say that they are our life facilitators, they are also our driving force, those who frame us and guide us in achieving our goals together!
